Our Ongoing Crisis Response
Russia’s relentless assault on Ukraine continues to take a heavy toll on its economy, infrastructure and especially Ukrainians themselves. It continues to affect our partners, programmes and participants. Yet despite this and thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have reached 388 locations in Ukraine and supported 327,331 people, both within and beyond the Jewish community since the war began in 2022.
This includes life-saving humanitarian aid, home repairs, home care and active ageing programmes for vulnerable Jews and older people, educational and psychological support for families, and livelihood development. We have also assisted thousands of Ukrainian refugees in Poland, Moldova and the UK, helping them to rebuild their lives. But as war rages on, we know our work is more important than ever.

Ukrainians in the UK
In August 2023, we launched our STEP Ukraine programme to support Ukrainian refugees to rebuild their lives in the UK. Over 12 weeks, we provide intensive English language and specialist employment support to Ukrainians displaced by the war. This programme is funded by the UK Government and delivered in partnership with the British Council. So far, we have supported over 13,000 Ukrainians, and according to a recent survey, over 65% of respondents are currently in work with 99% of test-takers showing improvements in their English skills.
