Krakatoa volcano explosion

Krakatoa volcano explosion

At least 281 people have died and at least 1,016 people have been injured by a tsunami on Indonesia’s Sundra Strait. More than 600 homes were damaged, as well as 60 shops and 420 vessels.

The tsunami is believed to have been caused by the eruption of the Anak Krakatau volcano, which partially collapsed.

World Jewish Relief already has a presence in Indonesia, having responded to the earthquake and tsunami in September 2018 (picture above). The local partner organisation, who we have been working in response to September’s emergency, is monitoring the situation and we are in contact to assess our response.
