Victims of International Disasters

In keeping with the values of Tikkun Olam (healing the world) we recognize the desire amongst British Jewry at times of major international crisis to demonstrate its care and concern for some of the hardest hit individuals.

As the community’s leading humanitarian organisation, we consistently look to maximise our impact by working through trusted partners with extensive experience in the field and also offering our own expertise and support.

Disasters can cause poverty among previously self-reliant communities as well as exacerbate the vulnerability of already marginalised people. Where possible, therefore, we attempt to take a longer-term approach to solving some of the problems created by international disasters, both responding to emergency needs and helping some of the most affected rebuild their livelihoods.
