Inspiring Inclusion in Bangladesh
World Jewish Relief has worked in Bangladesh since 2018, responding to typhoons and improving conditions in the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, helping people to develop sustainable livelihoods, and survive extreme weather events. Now, we’re supporting this community in Koyra, helping them to build their resilience to the climate crisis through our local partner Prottyashi. Find out more.
Our Partners and Benefactors
Ukraine’s older Jewish communities still holding on in the face of two years of war
Ukraine was once home to the largest Jewish population in Europe, with approximately 1.5 million Jews living in the Soviet republic of Ukraine. By 2023, a year after Russia’s devastating full-scale invasion, the Jewish community of Ukraine was estimated at around 43,000 – just 3% of what it once was.
Two Years of War in Ukraine
It has been two years since the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Two years that have turned people’s worlds upside down. Two years where millions of people have been internally displaced and millions more have left the country and become refugees.
