For The Living

117 minutes | Documentary | English | USA | 2025 | Director: Marc Bennett, Tim Roper

Join us for a special screening and Q&A of For The Living, a profound and moving film that not only tells Marcel Zielinski’s story but ignites a critical conversation: When will we stop building monuments for the dead and get busy re-humanising the living? When will we finally say NEVER AGAIN and truly mean it?

In January 1945, after two harrowing years as a prisoner in a death camp, 10-year-old Holocaust survivor Marcel Zielinski embarked on a perilous 60-mile journey by foot from Auschwitz-Birkenau to Krakow, Poland, through an active war zone. It was a desperate search for surviving family members—a journey from darkness to light.

Decades later, 250 cyclists from 12 different countries retraced Marcel’s path as part of the Ride for the Living, a collective act of empathy created by JCC Krakow. This powerful initiative honours Marcel’s survival and the enduring human spirit while reminding us of the ongoing need to move from dehumanization to empathy, from darkness to light.
