As global leaders argue amongst themselves in Bonn, we stand ready to help people at the frontlines of the climate crisis as they take matters into their own hands. Like many of our supporters here in the UK, we at World Jewish Relief continue to be deeply concerned about the climate crisis. As COP-26 wound down, the media spotlight understandably moved on to other crises; the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the cost-of-living crisis and sky-high fuel prices, to name a few.

For Refugee Week 2021 we are celebrating the incredible resilience, achievements and contributions of a few of the 1,000+ refugees World Jewish Relief has supported on their journeys into work. This year the theme of Refugee Week is 'We Cannot Walk Alone'. At the heart of our Specialist Training and Employment Programme (STEP) for refugees are our partnerships with NGOs, local and national authorities, who help deliver the programme.

World Jewish Relief Continues Rwanda Work in Face of Government Cuts

At the end of April World Jewish Relief learned that UK Government funding for our livelihoods work in Rwanda would be cut, along with funding for 41 other projects run by small NGOs around the world. With 90 days to close the programme, which was supposed to run until September 2022, we have made the decision to continue funding it ourselves, delivering on our commitment to this transformative work.

Rebecca is a participant of World Jewish Relief's ENABLE programme in Rwanda, run in partnership with UNM and SACCA. From a young age she has overcome many challenges and, with support from the programme, has been able to grow into a strong and determined woman. At the age of just five, Rebecca faced two challenges that would affect her life forever. First, she lost her hearing and then within the same year she sadly lost her father.
