It’s a family affair for World Jewish Relief at the Maccabi Fun Run

A team of 18 World Jewish Relief supporters, including 4 families, a 1 year old and the Paul Anticoni, World Jewish Relief’s chief executive, took part in the Maccabi GB fun run on Sunday 23 June. They ran, walked and pushed their way round the 1K, 5K colour run and 10K courses to raise money for the charity.

The Mitchell Family, including Ella, 2 and Libby, 5, were ably supported by their mum Michelle, as they took on the 1K challenge and raised over £500. The girls’ Great Grandpa Otto came to the UK on the Kindertransport, supported by World Jewish Relief in its capacity as the Central British Fund. Libby said they were running to help “those people that lose everything and have their homes washed away, that World Jewish Relief support”.  Michelle is World Jewish Relief’s Head of Major Giving.

Jessica Robinson, the daughter of World Jewish Relief’s Volunteer Co-ordinator (also a volunteer role) Sue Saffer ran the 10K raising over £400 and said “It was a great challenge, and I’m proud that I completed it. When it was tough I thought of all the people that World Jewish Relief help and that spurred me on”.

Eden Harding, 12, raised over £100 for World Jewish Relief’s refugee work. He was keen to stress that “everyone seems to have forgotten about refugees now and I wanted to run to show my support for them and to help them through World Jewish Relief.”

Paul Anticoni, World Jewish Relief’s Chief Executive, couldn’t resist the urge to take on the new 5K colour run and said, “World Jewish Relief is immensely proud to be part of the Maccabi Fun Run; a fantastic celebration of the Jewish Charity sector. I was delighted to see all of our runners enjoying themselves and can’t wait for next year”

World Jewish Relief would like to thank all its runners including: Richard, Poppy, Keira and Sophia Levy; Amber and Eden Hyman; Michelle, Libby and Ella Mitchell; Daniel, Emily, Simeon, Jacob and Deborah Levere; Paul Anticoni; Jessica Robinson; Eden Harding and Josh Nathan
