Ukraine: How You Can Help

We have been overwhelmed by the amount of support that has poured in for our participants, partners and friends in Ukraine.

At such distressing times, it is understandable that everyone wants to do what they can to help – but some actions can have more impact than others.

DONATE

The very best thing you can do to help people in Ukraine right now is to donate to our Ukraine Crisis Appeal – every donation makes a difference. This enables us to provide our partners in Ukraine and its neighbouring countries with exactly what they need, as fast as possible.

SHARE

If you have already donated, or don’t feel that you are able to contribute, then you can still make a big impact by sharing the appeal with family and friends.

GIFTS IN KIND

Although we hugely appreciate offers of donating items like blankets and clothing, fielding these requests can slow down our response. It is not the fastest way to get people the support they need, and we do not have the resources to transport goods to Ukraine.

If you have goods to donate, please do not contact our office, as we are not able to help – below are a list of places where goods donations are being accepted:

  • Give Help Share are sending items to Chabad in Poland – The collection point is at Safestore Unit 2116/2117, Britannic House, Stirling Way, Borehamwood WD6 2BT. You can drop supplies off on Friday and Saturday 10am – 6pm and Sunday 10am-4pm.

HELPING REFUGEES

So far, there is only one route open for Ukrainians to come to the UK, through the family visa scheme. We don’t know where people who come through this scheme will be settling, but it is likely to be with or near their families. We will be offering virtual employment support to Ukrainians who arrive here, starting in the next few weeks.

We are ready to respond with support for refugees if and when the visa scheme is widened.

As soon as the government releases more information on its plans for a business and community visa sponsorship scheme, we will update you.

We have urged the Prime Minister and Home Secretary to offer humanitarian visas for Ukrainian refugees as quickly as possible.

Below are some resources you can use to help family members in Ukraine.

If you are a British passport holder in Ukraine: you can register with the FCDO to let them know you are there, and to receive information from the government.

If you have family members in Ukraine that requires visas: You can apply for visas through the Ukraine Family Scheme. If you are a British National or have settled status, you can apply to bring Ukrainian family members to the UK.
