World Jewish Relief provides life-saving and life-changing action to people in crisis around the world. We work with our trusted local partners to help people survive the consequences of conflict and disaster, to thrive and rebuild their lives. We deliver programmes using our expertise, with urgency to achieve maximum and sustainable impact for those within and beyond our community.

In the last year, World Jewish Relief has grown significantly. Our supporter base has grown, we’ve undergone a full rebrand, invested in our digital and design capabilities and launched a new website. Now, to match this growth, we are looking for a passionate and compelling storyteller to join our Communications and Marketing team to help us tell more people what we do, and what makes us unique.

You will be an experienced communicator, with a strong understanding of what makes an interesting and impactful story for a range of different audiences and channels. You will work alongside many of our teams to amplify our work and our brand, and will be able to easily adapt your writing style depending on the audience. This is largely a proactive role, which will seek out interesting media opportunities and develop a compelling narrative that positions World Jewish Relief and our work with new and existing audiences.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing an audience-centric media strategy, to engage national, global, local, sector and Jewish media.
  • Working closely with our Programmes teams to research, develop and write hard-hitting and impactful stories that demonstrate the breadth and depth of our work.
  • Developing appropriate media monitoring and analysis and keeping wider organisation up to date with relevant news
  • Working closely with the wider Communications and Marketing team to suggest and develop robust monitoring and evaluation processes for media engagement and storytelling, which will be used for reporting purposes
  • Develop a storytelling strategy and process, in agreement with the Director of Communications and Marketing, which supports the brand and messaging

You should have:

  • Significant media relations experience, with strong contacts across a range of sectors and clear results
  • Excellent news sense and understanding of media across a wide breadth of outlets and sectors.
  • Experience tailoring messaging and stories to reach different audiences across different sectors and channels
  • Deep understanding of strategic media campaigns, news agenda, storytelling, and developing and managing campaigns with demonstrable results
  • Experience of delivering high impact, multi-audience media campaigns, working closely with wider communications and marketing team
  • Strong written and verbal and communication skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent journalistic skills as well as a commitment to World Jewish Relief and its values, and the ability to tailor approaches to fit with our work and values
