World Jewish Relief was established as the Central British Fund for German Jewry in 1933 to help refugees from Nazi-Europe, and we succeeded in bringing around 65,000 Jewish refugees to safety.
We have names of over 315,000 people who contacted us for help, as well as records for the 65,000 refugees we supported throughout the 1930s and 1940s.

Early on Saturday 7th October, during the Jewish festival of Simchat Torah, terrorists attacked Israel, killing thousands and taking hundreds of people hostage. Simchat Torah is traditionally one of the most joyous days in the Jewish calendar, and instead, this day will be remembered forever for all the wrong reasons.
This year, Earth Day coincides with the eve of Passover, inviting us to contemplate the link between the two. Passover, possibly the moment of peak consumerism in the Jewish calendar, seems to require such quantities of matzah, wine and special ingredients, in addition to an array of dedicated kitchen tools and disposable items for large Seder gatherings. It is a time when I find it harder to maintain my standards for reducing waste and recycling and I can see it in the amount of trash we generate in one week.
On September 18-19, World Jewish Relief USA attended the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) September meeting with hundreds of changemakers, policy makers and organizations. Rabbi Dina Brawer, Executive Director of World Jewish Relief USA took to the stage to tell the inspiring story of Bishnu, a 58-year-old father from Mahottari, Nepal, and to announce a commitment to action on behalf of World Jewish Relief.
This week marked the launch of a new 501(c)(3), World Jewish Relief USA. The organization will support the global projects of World Jewish Relief, the UK Jewish community’s international development and humanitarian agency, enabling them to scale up their lifesaving work.
